It is centrally located, so it is easy to get everywhere for water sports, shopping, hiking, exploring the historic sites, and all the beautiful beaches! The open floor plan allows the gentle breezes to flow throughout the house. It is tranquil and delightful; a perfect place to enjoy a cool drink while watching the sunset! On clear days you can see the distant islands of St. Thomas and St. John.

The Main House is a spacious 1600 square foot home with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, vaulted ceilings, and a large great room taking up the entire top floor of the building. This is a true Cruzan home – completely furnished and ready for you to use as your own! The kitchen is fully equipped. The Main House can easily accommodate as many as 6 people. It has 2 master bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a third bedroom, and a third bathroom in the hallway. The gallery is perfect for relaxing, reading, and sharing meals. It overlooks the gorgeous lap pool, pool deck, and valley below. Sit there, or on the pool deck under the palm trees to keep in touch with loved ones via your computer. Or, if you must, do a little work. The wireless internet will give you access even there. Besides the gallery and pool deck, there is a wrap-around porch which extends to the balcony outside Sunrise master bedroom. It can be a perfect place to read, reflect, and observe nature. The hammock under the trees is a favorite spot to take a well deserved snooze!

The professionally landscaped property consists of 1.2 acres. There is a cactus garden, beautiful trees and flowers typical of St. Croix (flamboyant, tamarind, sour sop, frangipani, bougainvillea, and more), and wonderful, delightful (and hungry) hummingbirds and bananaquits. Other birds you may see are egrets, frigate birds, black ani. and doves. Of course, you will see geckos! They are everywhere on the island!

Within the property is a rented cottage and rented downstairs apartment. These local residents all share the grounds, but you would have exclusive use of the pool and patio space. They are friendly people who are happy to discuss their knowledge of St. Croix. All are working professionals with different occupations, so they have an abundance of information about the island.

An added feature of Mountain Breeze is an amateur radio station, NP2N, which is available to licensed amateur radio operators.

Why We Bought This Property: George and Vicky live in Iowa, and visit a few times a year. George Oster first came to St. Croix in 1991, and fell in love with the island. He then determined to bring his family to experience the beauty, culture, and activities that make St. Croix special. Every year after that, they all traveled to one Caribbean island or another, but found St. Croix to be just what they desired. They found it to be relaxed, laid back, family oriented, and easy to get around. There’s is so much for all the family to do here with the many beautiful beaches, water sports, hiking, horseback riding, historic sites, and cultural events. St. Croix became their favorite island. So, in 2005, when they walked up the stairs of Mountain Breeze onto the pool deck and saw the views and pool, they knew this was the place for them! They thought, ‘What more could we ask for? It’s perfect!’ With its central location, spaciousness, and feeling of seclusion and security, it was just what they were looking for! It is the perfect size, and has lots of different outdoor spaces for all the family to enjoy – either together or separately. So, now when they are visiting their home away from home, every night between 5:45 – 6:15 they sit on the pool deck or gallery with a cool drink to watch the sun go down behind Blue Mountain, and watch the birds do their evening migration. When it rains, there are often rainbows in the valley below. There are so many things about this property which make it extraordinary – the views, comfortable accommodations, the pool, the natural surroundings, etc. There is a feeling of peace and openness. It is secluded, but near everything. It could be the place to relax, or the place you come home to each day after your activities. Since George is an amateur radio operator, something very special for him is the fact that this is one of the best amateur radio sites on island!
